I would like to take this opportunity to thank BWI for inviting
me to one of the most uplifting parties I’ve yet to attend.
As the first of its kind in Canada, the Rabbinical College
of Canada was established in 1942 by students to provide
Jewish education for the community in Montreal. My
father, a holocaust survivor, arrived in Montreal in 1953 as
an orphan. The RCC took him with open arms, along with
many more like him. RCC has grown to become Canada’s
largest Rabbinical College, producing thousands of
community leaders. Many came from broken homes or
families of Holocaust survivors. Today, RCC has over 500
students and over 50% are on scholarships, coming from
lower income families.
I hope people will learn from Brendan and his friends to
share with others. As my wife Neomi said at the dinner,
“charity is for all year round, not only during the holiday
season.” May we all merit Joy and Happiness in the New
Year.
