Covenant House, which provides shelter and assistance to teenagers without a home, is a charity I have supported regularly for several years. As we have experienced how difficult it is for a daughter with all the benefits of a home to make her way through her teen years, it has made us more aware of what life would be like without this kind comfort and support. As well, during my twenties I worked in a similar center in London (UK) where kids were received into public care after losing or being separated from their parents. Having spent a year with these kids and living through their upsets with them, the memory of their names and faces are alive in my memory. Hopefully, my donation will allow others to provide kids in Toronto with the support they need to weather their difficulties and emerge with dignity and self-respect.
